Gerald and I got up at 4am to get breakfast at the hostel and try to be one of the first ones to enter Machu Picchu.
We got up at 5:30am to try to catch the sunrise over distant Machu Picchu. As it was still raining and super foggy, we couldn’t see the sun at all.
We found the ruins of Llactapata after a long hike up a mountain. Nine years ago they were barely visible, but they are now fully excavated and look very nice.
With improved weather, we walked this section of the trail that follows the river all the way to La Playa.
This was going to be a short and easy day, a good way to recover from the toughest section we had just done the previous day.
