If you google images of “Myanmar”, you’ll see a lot of pictures of Bagan and it’s 2,200 temples and pagodas. It is the image that most people (myself included) had of the country before visiting.
A boat journey down the Irrawaddy River to Bagan, the magical place with 2,000 pagodas.
Continuing our journey in Myanmar from east to west, we made the obligatory stop in this former capital city, where we arrived taxi from Pyin Oo Lwin.
The road to Pyin Oo Lwin includes some crazy switchbacks, and at one point we were able to see the Gokteik Viaduct from a distance.
After a crazy bus ride from Nyaungshwe (Inle Lake) we arrived to the small town of Hsipaw, where we failed multiple times to take a famous train ride.
