I work for SPOT and wanted to let you know that you can do a variety of things to check yourself on your SPOT account that won't require internet if you have a Smartphone. You can send yourself an SMS or e-mail so when you get back into cell service you can check your messages on your phone and see your pings. One of our developers also designed a Blackberry App http://spot4blackberry.com/ as well as an iPhone app http://spot4iphone.com/. This requires internet, but you can open a SpotAdventure.com account and embed that Live Map into this blog here so everyone could see you in real time if you like. The code is provided in the map.
